Andy McCormack and friends entertain at the Doric Concert

The concert was held at the hall on the 2nd of October.

Entertainment was by Andy McCormack and friends, who came from Dufftown.

Homecoming Ceildh - Saturday 21 November

Anyone associated with the Forglen parish, old or young, is invited to the Homecoming Ceilidh in the hall on Saturday November 21 starting at 8pm.
The most recent similar event was for former pupils of Forglen Primary School - the Ceilidh is open to everyone

Tickets, £4 per person, can be had from members of the committee or at the door.

AGM May 2009

The chairman, Norman Wilson welcomed committee members, councillor Ian Gray and members of the public to the AGM of the Friends of Forglen Hall on Friday May 29, 2009.
The chairman said it had been another good year for activities in the hall with highlights being the Doric Concert and the Sandy Reid concert.
The chairman thanked his committee for all their hard work at functions during the year.
A Ruby Wedding and a Golden Wedding were held in the hall during the year and it proved most suitable for such functions.
The chairman is to meet with George Cruickshank of Turriff British Legion in relation to putting up a plaque in the hall as a memorial to piper George Findlater, V.C.
Councillor Gray took the chair and the following office bearers were elected –

10 tables of gifts were on offer at the Christmas Fayre on 1st November.
Visitors enjoyed the varied crafts displayed in the hall,and took the chance to buy early gifts.
The coffee and mince pies had a steady trade too.

An event celebrating Doric music was held in Forglen hall on 4th October.
The Doric Festival Concert was organised by the Friends of Forglen hall with entertainment being provided by Geordie Smith and company.
Music student Nicola Auchnie on violin , gave an outstanding performance. Geordie kept the laughter ringing with his link up stories .
Derek Mc Bain and Moira Smith were accordionists. Rosie Kellas played keyboard and Haldie Winton sang the old favourites.
A novelty item was Moira Smith providing rhythm accompaniment on spoons.
Another very enjoyable evening for all who attended the well filled hall.

Quiz Night 19th September 2008

The winners of the quiz were The Bogtonians with a score of 100 points. The team members were Caroline Jones, Rhoda Burns, Margaret Gordon and John Burns. The Deveronsiders (Evelyn and George Addison and Liz and Leslie Duncan) with a score of 95.5 points came second. Though few in number, those who attended the quiz with Question Master Adam Gordon enjoyed a happy social evening with plenty of laughter. £120 was raised for Hall funds.

The Friends of Forglen Hall have an interesting programme of autumn and winter meetings arranged.

November 28 - Stovies Night and Concert

Annual General Meeting 2008

The chairman Norman Wilson, welcomed committee members, Aberdeenshire councilor Ian Gray and members of the public to the AGM of the Friends of Forglen Hall.

The chairman thanked his committee for all their hard work during the year.

The biggest changes during the year have been the treatment to the harling, external painting, and the completion of the disabled access.

The Doric Concert saw a full hall enjoy first class music.

The hall has been well used weekly and monthly throughout the year. A ruby and a golden wedding are taking place shortly in the hall.

Elected at the AGM were chairman Norman Wilson, vice chairman, Charlie Gill, Secretary Andrew Webster, treasurer. Helen Anderson, committee members, Rhoda Burns, Kathleen Greig, Caroline Jones and Delias Park .

Coffee Morning with The Friends of Forglen Hall

A coffee morning was held in the Hall on Saturday 17th May.
Entry is £2 and £1 for children.

This is a good chance to meet with your neighbours and enjoy a chat along with the cuppa.

Stephen Pratt and party entertained at the postponed concert held on Friday evening.
The numbers attending were down on the usual full house, because of the fine night which meant that urgent farm work was being done.

An enjoyable variety of stories, songs and music was performed. David Brown was compere and sang Scots songs, Alice Mac Donell had the feet tapping with her lively fiddle music, Irene Brown read amusing stories, many in verse of her own making. Stephen Pratt accompanied and played solos which demonstrated his consummate skill as a musician.
